The standard 1/4" (6mm OD) water filter tubing used across Australia for RO systems, fridge water lines, ice maker connections, under-sink filtration, and aquariums. NSF/ANSI 42/58/61 certified LLDPE — the industry default for drinking-water tubing.
Why LLDPE for Water Filter Tubing
Linear Low-Density Polyethylene is the standard material because it hits the right balance of properties:
- Flexibility — bends to install through tight under-sink runs without kinking
- High pressure rating — handles full mains pressure with significant safety margin
- Chemical resistance — inert to chlorine, chloramines, dissolved minerals
- NSF/ANSI 42/58/61 certified — safe for drinking-water contact
- Easy installation — cuts cleanly, push-fits without preparation
- Inexpensive — keeps RO systems affordable
Competing materials (copper, PVC, PEX) all fail at least one of these criteria for drinking-water filter applications.
NSF/ANSI Certifications
Three separate standards:
- NSF/ANSI 42 — drinking-water aesthetic effects (taste, odour, residual chlorine)
- NSF/ANSI 58 — reverse osmosis system component standard
- NSF/ANSI 61 — drinking-water system components, health effects
Carrying all three means the tubing is verified safe for direct potable-water contact under all the conditions a residential RO system creates.
Where This Tubing Goes
Universal — almost every component in a residential RO or fridge filter installation uses 1/4" tubing:
- Mains supply to pre-filter
- Pre-filter to RO membrane
- RO membrane to permeate tank
- Permeate tank to RO faucet
- RO reject to drain saddle
- Fridge water line from mains tap to fridge inlet
- Aquarium top-up lines from RO water source
Length Options
- 5m — single RO install or fridge line replacement
- 10m — RO install with fridge line, or two installations
- 20m — installer pack for multiple jobs
- 50m — trade roll for installer stock

Installation Cautions
- Keep away from fire — don't use in high-temperature areas (max 45°C)
- Don't bend the tubing at a 90° angle (use elbow fittings for sharp turns)
- Inspect tubing surface before use — no scratches, no foreign objects, no uneven surfaces
- To avoid leaks, cut off the used portion before reuse
- Avoid simultaneous hot and cold use (temperature cycling reduces seal integrity)
- Don't expose to direct sunlight (UV degrades LLDPE over time)
